Why I’ve Invested Over $250K in Coaching—and What You Can Gain from It

Over the past 15 years, I’ve invested more than $250,000 in my own coaches.

I made that investment when I walked away from my first business at 27.

I did it again when I was at my lowest point mentally at 37.

And most recently, I invested heavily from 39 to 42, when, despite my best efforts, my business seemed to be stagnating.

Each time, I thought I was investing in tactical strategies to fix revenue, leads, audience growth—the usual business challenges.

But what continues to surprise me is what I actually gain from each coaching experience: the invaluable space that each coach holds for me.

What Coaching Truly Means:

  • Unwavering Belief: A coach who believes in you fully, even when you doubt yourself.

  • Total Presence: Someone who listens to you with 100% focus, giving you their undivided attention.

  • Unfiltered Honesty: Delivering the truths you need to hear, unapologetically and without sugarcoating.

  • Accountability: Holding you to your word and ensuring you follow through on your commitments.

  • Clarity and Insight: Helping you see your core issues and blind spots with clarity.

  • Guidance and Support: Walking with you as you work through challenges, step by step.

All of this is in service of one goal: helping you reach your vision.

Coaching vs. Mentoring: What’s the Difference?

  • Both are essential, and sometimes they can be found in the same person.

  • A coach walks with you through the day-to-day, providing ongoing support.

  • A mentor might check in a few times a year, offering wisdom from their own experiences.

  • A mentor shares their way of building success.

  • A coach helps you find your own path, guiding you to discover the answers within yourself.

Do You Need a Coach?

Not necessarily. There are plenty of problems I’ve solved on my own—until I hit a wall and couldn’t move forward.

The hardest part about solving our own problems is recognizing when we’re trapped by our own beliefs.

As Einstein wisely said, “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”

Coaching is the fastest way to shift your perspective and see your challenges from a new angle.

When Should You Get a Coach?

When you find yourself running in circles, repeatedly facing the same challenges without making progress.

Who Thrives in Coaching?

Those who are emotionally intelligent, willing to take ownership of their mistakes, and open to sharing their vulnerabilities.

Supermen and Superwomen—those who think they can do it all alone—don’t make great coaching clients.

How Do You Choose the Right Coach?

A successful coaching relationship requires deep trust and alignment of values, especially for a long-term commitment.

Look for a coach who:

  • Leads with well-thought-out questions.

  • Holds space for all areas of your life.

  • Never imposes their experience on yours but instead guides you to find your own solutions.

It Doesn’t Have to Be Me—But You Deserve the Right Coach

If you’re considering exploring coaching, I’d love to connect and have an open, honest conversation.

I don’t do hard sells, and I’ve told countless potential clients that I’m not the right fit for them. My goal is to help you find the right path, whether that’s with me or someone else.

If I believe I can genuinely help you, I’ll tell you. If not, I’ll happily refer you to someone else in the space who might be a better match.

The important thing is that you find the coach who aligns with your needs and can support you in reaching your goals.

If you’re ready to explore whether we’re a good fit, let’s start the conversation.
