The Misconception of More

“I want more leads, more clients, and more revenue!”

It’s the vision most clients bring when they come to me—more community, more clients, more cash.

And why wouldn’t they? After all, isn’t coaching all about creating a bigger impact for our clients and, in turn, generating greater revenue?

Let me be clear … I’m not against the vision of ‘more,’ but I do take issue with how we chase it.

Most of us are conditioned to believe that more effort equals more results:
More effort, more outcome. Less effort, less outcome.

It sounds logical, right?

But nature has a different answer.

In the 1940’s my grandparents were flower growers, specializing in chrysanthemums—spider mums, to be exact.

To your average gardener, more sunlight, water, and soil might seem like the recipe for a better bloom.

But for a flower grower, ‘more’ doesn’t mean ‘better.’

In fact, ‘more’ often leads to a larger quantity of flowers, but they’re undersized, lackluster, and less fragrant.

Words you’d never want to hear about your bouquet—or your business.

The secret to truly beautiful blooms lies in focused efficiency. It’s not about giving the plant everything—it’s about giving it exactly what it needs.

Every spring, my mother and her three brothers would spend countless hours carefully removing excess buds and suckers from each stem, so all the plant’s energy would be channeled into one stunning blossom.

It’s the stripping away of the unnecessary and the precise direction of energy that creates magic.

So, what does this have to do with your business?

To realize your bigger vision, you don’t need more tools, strategies, or tactics—you need a pair of pruning shears.

Most coaches who come to me are drowning in options. They’ve devoured books, podcasts, YouTube tutorials, evergreen courses, and group programs.

They’re paralyzed by information overload.

The real question isn’t “How much more can I do?” but rather “How do I apply what’s right for my business?”

That’s where coaching becomes essential.

It’s about cutting through the noise, focusing your efforts, and aligning your actions with your goals. Because in business, like in nature, the key isn’t more—it’s mastery.

Without the right coaching, you risk spinning your wheels, wasting time on ineffective strategies, and ultimately burning out before you see the results you want. It’s not just about the lost revenue—it’s about the lost potential.
