Earn Your Level

Please don't make this mistake.

I hear a lot of entrepreneurs share their dreams with me:

“I want to make $250k a year! … $500k a year … $1M+ a year!”

And there’s nothing wrong with having a super-sized dream. In fact, the more you’re around me, the more you’ll hear me say that entrepreneurship is a calling, a privilege.

But when I dig deeper into those businesses, I often find areas of neglect.

As entrepreneurs, we love doing the things that make us look good.

But we avoid the hard stuff like a 12-year-old dodging chores (cough cough—that’s a loving nudge to my kid who sometimes reads this).

Just the other day, I advised a coach to start a newsletter, and the first question back was, “Where do I hire someone to write this for me?”

Everyone wants to jump to the next level without doing the hard work.

It’s like saying you want to look like The Rock but only lifting 2-pound weights.

Easy doesn’t build muscle, and it doesn’t grow revenue either.

So I told him straight up, “When your business inevitably hits tough times, and you don’t know how to fix it yourself, your business will either implode or be dependent on someone else because you didn’t learn how to earn your subscribers.”

Repeat after me: Your business will rise or fall to the level of your deficiencies.

The business you have right now is the one you’ve earned—it’s where it is for a reason.

If you want to reach the next level, you’ve got to face the areas you’ve been avoiding.

You get to choose your hard: do the uncomfortable work now and build something solid, or avoid it and deal with the fallout later.

PS: If you’re craving some Windex-level clarity, I’ve got something for you.
